Brief Update
The ripping and clipping continue. The current plan is to expand Tears of the Robot into a two-hour long panel; there’s a glut of material. Smoke and Mirrorshades will be one hour long. Still trying to decide what my other panels will involve. I’m leaning toward another hour-length panel plus a live-commentary of some kind, possibly involving a film with an infamous Streamline dub.

Clipper-Ripper
I spent all day ripping video clips and collecting artwork. I’m building panels for Florida Anime Experience 2013. Currently, I’m working on a panel entitled Tears of the Robot: Anime Edition and another called Smoke and Mirrorshades: Cyberpunk in Anime. I’ll need at least two more panels to fulfill my obligations as a guest. This is a paying gig, so I’ve got to concentrate my energies on getting these presentations ready, so I doubt I’ll be getting too much creative writing done in the near future.

Work, work, work.
Accomplished Today (So Far): Three pages on the electric typewriter. Two pages on the manual. Four pages of transcription. I began a new story about a man who finds himself utterly alone and imprisoned in a well-furnished castle. It’s shaping into an allegory for the artistic process, which can be frighteningly lonely at times. I also continued writing In the Land of Hungry Ghosts, which is about a paranormal investigator deals with nuisance hauntings; her very presence drives poltergeists away. Hungry Ghosts is turning into something fun, because Lisandra, the protagonist, is a real no-nonsense character. I also finished transcribing Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, so I’m that much closer to completing my third collection of short stories.
Writing Relevant Article: Why two spaces after a period isn’t wrong, by heraclitus. I found this article through a friend’s Facebook post. I used to use two spaces, because that was what I was taught. Transitioning to using a single space (which is what editors seem to prefer these days) was a painless process once I gave it a try. I don’t miss the old way of doing things.

Screaming Babies
Accomplished Today (So Far): One Vault of Error article. I also did some editing, but it was my sister’s birthday today and she visited with her infant sons in tow. It’s hard to focus on literary efforts when there are babies demanding constant attention.

Progress?
No writing so far today. I completed a big chunk of podcast-related editing. I also applied for a teaching job and made some positive business decisions which I can describe in more detail after the contracts are finalized. My brother is visiting from Texas. I showed him my workspace and the progress on Skin Crawling Comics. Overall, a productive day.

Grumpy
Accomplished Today (So Far): Two pages, handwritten, cursive. Two pages on the manual typewriter. Continued the adventures of Harry Hominid and the band of low-class adventurers mentioned in yesterday’s post. The sequel to Fat Wizard’s Almanac now has the working title of No Good Deed. I want to do some writing with a fountain tip pen, but it’s getting late and I’m feeling grumpy.
People continue to make fun of my typewriters. I still don’t get the hate. I love writing with them. Isn’t that the important thing?
Mood: Grumpy.
